CLASS 'A' AIRGAP ( BREAK TANK)
A Class 'A' Airgap (Break Tank), is fitted to prevent dirty water from flowing back into the machine and contaminating the clean items in the glasswasher or dishwasher.
Airgaps are becoming a requirement on glasswasher and dishwasher equipment fitted in commercial kitchens. However to date, glasswashers fittted within the bar area do not require an Airgap.
Water authorities are recommending and in some cases enforcing Airgap requierments in various eateries. However it is still a grey area and we would therefore recommend that you either purchase a machine with an Airgap fitted or contact your local authority for advice.
All of our Dishwashers and the majority of our Glasswashers are fitted with class A airgaps taking away addtional work and worry.
Air Gaps also have a booster pump built in. It may be necessary to have a booster pump if you have low water pressure.
