Large restaurant chains serving unsustainable seafood

The Sustainable restaurant guide ‘Fish2Fork’ in association with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) have revealed the findings of their recent study into sustainable seafood used in large high street chains, the results are shocking with more than half using seafood from overfished areas.

Fish2Fork rate restaurants on a scale where 5 red fish is least sustainable through to 5 blue fish being most sustainable. The best rated high street chain was Pret a Manger with 4.5 blue fish closely followed by Yo! Sushi with 4 blue fish. Hungry Horse and Table Table chains both scored 2.5 blue fish and Zizzi rated 1 blue fish.

At the unsustainable end of the scale were Café Rouge, Harvester and Wagamama who rated 0.5 red fish. Ask, Chiquito and Frankie & Bennys were all rated 1 red fish whilst Bella Italia came bottom of the survey with 1.5 red fish.
